Taste of Country put together a list of the top country music stories of 2023 . . . and it's been a year of so many highs and lows that someone should turn it into a country song. (???) Here are some highlights:
- Oliver Anthony's "Rich Men North of Richmond" tops the Billboard Hot 100.
- Jason Aldean's "Try That in a Small Town" creates controversy, and hits #1.
- Dolly Parton drops her first rock album, "Rockstar".
- Luke Combs takes Tracy Chapman's "Fast Car" to #1.
- Morgan Wallen had the top country tour of the year, despite a serious vocal condition that canceled multiple shows.
- Toby Keith's courageous battle with cancer, and plans to return.
- Kid Rock and John Rich boycott Bud Light, and later back off it.
- Chris Stapleton sings an awesome National Anthem at the Super Bowl.
