This whole debacle made Luke Combs look like a big jerk for a minute. But he just stepped up in a huge way, A woman in Florida named Nicol Harness has congestive heart failure, and makes ends meet by selling homemade tumblers and T-shirts on Amazon.
She's a big Luke Combs fan, and recently started selling tumblers with his likeness on them after she saw him in concert this summer. And unfortunately, it got her wrapped up in a crazy lawsuit.
Luke's camp works with an outfit that goes after counterfeit merch companies. Last month, a judge ruled a bunch of them have to pay damages, including Nicol, to the tune of $250,000.
She doesn't have anywhere close to $250k. She only sold 18 Luke tumblers and made less than $400 on them. But Amazon promptly froze her account and seized the $5,500 she had in there, which she needed to pay bills.
Luke only found out about it yesterday and posted a video saying he was sick to his stomach. He said the lawsuit was supposed to target big corporations that sell fake stuff overseas, and definitely not his own fans.
It's unclear what's happening with the $250,000 judgement, but he's already stepping up to help her.
He immediately sent Nicol $11,000, which is twice what she had in her Amazon account. And he said he'd be launching an OFFICIAL tumbler to help her out.
He made good on the promise a few hours later. You can already pre-order them through his website for $20, with all the proceeds going to Nicole and her family.
Luke says he talked to her yesterday and invited her whole family to an upcoming concert. He told her he wants to hug her and "say sorry in person." Here's Luke's video, and here's his tumbler.
