At the start of college football, a reporter asks all the coaches to name their favorite band. And country acts dominated this year.
133 coaches were polled, and one country artist got more nods than anyone else. Can you guess who it is? Here's a hint: The coaches are older than the players, so it's not Morgan Wallen.
#1 overall is GEORGE STRAIT. Eight different coaches said he's their favorite.
Eric Church and Luke Combs got six each, Kenny Chesney, four, and Cole Swindell, three. Then two apiece for Morgan Wallen, Zach Bryan, and Chris Stapleton.
Kirby Smart coaches the Georgia Bulldogs, who won it all last year. So who'd he pick? Another country artist. He said Luke Bryan is his favorite.
Other names that got a shout-out include: Darius Rucker, Zac Brown Band, Justin Moore, Thomas Rhett, Kane Brown, Toby Keith, Brooks & Dunn, Kenny Rogers, Garth Brooks, and Merle Haggard.
Also, Riley Green got a nod from the coach at Jacksonville State, where Riley was starting quarterback from 2007 to 2009.
Coaches in the S.E.C. are the biggest country fans overall. Six of the 14 coaches went with country artists.
