If Lainey Wilson ever writes a book, she better include some of the song lyrics she came up with as a kid, because they sound awesome. She didn't waste her time writing about middle school drama or silly love songs.
She had stories to tell about tequila and cigarettes. (???) She talked about it in an interview with "American Songwriter".
Quote, "We didn't even have tequila or cigarettes in the house, but it's because I was listening to adult conversations. I was eavesdropping. I was watching TV.
"I was listening to country radio. I was thinking about things that I didn't even really know what they were, but I knew that it sounded good. It's crazy because I still write about those things. I know what they are now."
This part of the interview is also interesting. She didn't start writing love songs until her late 20s. She's 31 now. The inspiration hit when she started dating her current boyfriend, former NFL player Devlin "Duck" Hodges.
Quote, "I'm in a very happy, healthy relationship right now and I've never written a love song in my life until the last two and a half years. He makes it very easy for me to do that."
She promises to tell their story on her next album. Quote, "I'm in a very healthy relationship, and you're gonna be hearing things out of me that I didn't even know I was capable of.
"I'm learning things about myself right now that I didn't even know was possible. I'm able to share more of my life. Being able to say, 'Hey, I'm happy and healthy and in love' . . . it's something I didn't know I was gonna get a chance to say."
There's no word when the new music will be out.
