Ben Rector and Hailey Whitters stopped by The Bobby Bones Show to talk about their new collaboration, answer some personal questions and more!
Rector and Whitters teamed up for the first time for their new song “Color Up My World.” From the minute Whitters heard it, she loved it and was honored Rector asked her to be a part of it. They called it the perfect mix of super country but also not trying too hard to sound like it. When Rector wrote it, he shared that it was one of those special songs that came together quickly and felt like it could be an authentic fit for both.
Rector and Whitters are currently both opening for Dan + Shay’s Heartbreak On The Map Tour. Rector has been friends with them for a while so the minute they asked it was an easy yes. Whitters has never performed on a country/pop tour before, so she feels like she’s doing a lot of new things and loves that new audiences are hearing her music.
While in studio, the two answered some personal questions like out of the five senses which one they felt was their strongest. Rector said his was hearing, which has been helpful and harmful for him in some ways. Whitters said hers was taste because she loves to eat. Rector also shared that his favorite childhood memory was being on his Elementary School t-ball team and Whitters said hers was when her aunt would dress up as a fortune teller and give them fortunes. They were then asked which current or past musical group they would join if they could, and Whitters said Fleetwood Mac and Rector said The Beatles and he would try to kick Ringo Starr out as the drummer.
Rector is performing at Bobby Bones & The Raging Idiots Million Dollar Show on April 3rd, 2024, at the historic Ryman Auditorium. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased here.
