SUBURBAN Target stores tend to have giant red balls outside their building - but many have questioned their purpose.
One expert has revealed that the balls aren't simply for decorative purposes, nor are they seats for shoppers who are coming and going.
Cathy Pedrayes, who shares safety and security tips on her social media pages and calls herself “The Mom Friend of the group,” revealed that the giant red balls are actually a safety feature.
Pedrayes says that the balls are called bollards and that Target is one of many stores that use them for safety.
“Whether it’s a concrete ball or post, these can stop a car or truck from driving into the store,” she said.
