Good news for all you 'tax-crastinators' - you're getting an extra month to file your tax return this year.
On Wednesday, the IRS announced that the federal tax filing deadline would be pushed back a month to May 17th.
IRS Commissioner Chuck Rettig says the delay will "help taxpayers navigate the unusual circumstances related to the pandemic".
Keep in mind that the extension applies only to federal taxes, not state or local income tax. And estimated tax payments are still due April 15th.
So far, the IRS says it's processed about 25 percent fewer returns than last year.
