Halton police say a suspected impaired driver in Oakville called 911 to report himself on Sunday, Feb. 21.
The unexpected call took place at approximately 3:15 p.m., with officers locating the driver in the area of Royal Windsor Drive and South Service Road soon after.
Police would not say whether the adult male was still driving his vehicle at the time he was apprehended.
Officers discussed the incident on social media later the same day.
“This might be a first for us,” they posted on Twitter.
“Driver calls 911 to report an impaired driver; themselves."
The tweet went on to say that the driver was reportedly found to be four times over the legal limit and that he was safely arrested for impaired driving.
The driver’s actions generated considerable confusion among online commenters.
“My brain hurts trying to comprehend this one,” wrote Justin Mochon, responding to the Tweet.
“I feel like you’re making it up.”
So..Is the guy an idiot or was he smart to call 911?
