2023 Southwest Police Motorcycle Training Competition @ Kino Sports Complex

Kino Sports Complex

The Tucson Police Department is pleased to announce that it will be hosting the 26th Annual Southwest Police Motorcycle Training Competition (SPMTC). This highly anticipated, annual event is scheduled for April 14th & 15th, 2023 at Kino Sports Complex, 2500 E Ajo Way, from approximately 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The public is invited to view this dynamic display of police motorcycle skills free of charge.

History

SPMTC was started in 1997 by the Tucson Police Department with the initial intent of bringing motorcycle police officers of various agencies together in an exchange of training techniques through a friendly skills competition.

To reduce the work load on any one agency, the organization of the SPMTC event began to rotate between the participating agencies. The Tucson Police Department, Phoenix Police Department and Las Vegas Metro Police Department accepted this challenge. In 2016 the Pima County Sheriff’s Department was honored to be accepted for this same challenge. In 2022, the Tucson Police Department was honored to accept the challenge. Over the years SPMTC has enjoyed great success in its ability to raise money for beneficiaries, while providing an entertaining venue for the public.
