This week I am on my honeymoon, on-board the beautiful Princess Cruises Enchanted Princess, and I was given a great opportunity to sit down with Food & Beverage Director, Peder Lindquister. We talked about everything from how many staff members work for him behind the scenes, how Princess introduces guests to culinary journeys, and how they strike the perfect balance between specialty dinning, casual, and family-friendly food options.
Ever wonder how much food gets eaten EVERY DAY on a cruise ship? For the Enchanted Princess, Peder says this much:
- Beef 7,700 lbs
- Chicken 1,500 lbs
- Pork 2,200 lbs
- Burgers Patty 400 lbs / 900 pcs
- Fish 1500 lbs
- Lobsters Tails on Gala Dinner 2500 Pcs
- Potato utility 830 lbs
- Baked Potato 330 lbs
- Carrots 330 lbs
- Onion 330 lbs
- Watermelon 1000 lbs
- Melon 400 lbs
- Pineapple 800 lbs
- On a daily basis the Food & Beverage department produces around 30,000 dishes and 25,000 bread rolls/Danish a DAY!
How about alcohol? For a traditional 7-day cruise, here is how much is drank:
- Beers – 14,000 bottles
- Wines & Champagne – 4,500 bottles
- Water –31,000 Bottles
- Spirits – 3,800 drinks
