Cody Johnson's new album "Leather" is out November 3rd. In an interview with "Billboard", he was asked about the cover photo, which features a closeup of his bloody, tattooed hands holding onto a strip of leather.
It wasn't created in a studio. Not even close. He said, quote, "I was working at the ranch that day, so I told my photographer to come over. That's blood and hair in that picture from castrating bulls and giving them shots that day.
"We didn't stage any of it. We got started at 5:00 a.m. and worked all day and he ended up getting some incredible photos while we were working."
One of the songs on the album is called "Whiskey Bent", and it features guest vocals from Jelly Roll. It's about redemption, which definitely sounds like a Jelly Roll song, but Cody says it fits him too.
Quote, "People look at me as this clean-cut, wholesome guy, but I'm no different than anybody else. I've got demons in my closet and things in my past that are hard to deal with, that I go to therapy sometimes to deal with."
