Stop me if you've heard this a thousand times before. A pop singer would like to give country music a try. This time it's Ed Sheeran who performed solo, and with Luke Combs at last week's ACMs.
In an interview with "Billboard" during ACM rehearsals he said, quote, "I talk about this to my wife all the time. I would love to transition to country. I love the culture of it, I just love the songwriting. It's just like brilliant songs."
At least Ed has some experience in Music City. He lived in Nashville two different times and soaked in a lot while touring with Taylor Swift during her country years. He's also hip to how dedicated everyone is to the craft.
Quote, "It's like a community. There's not a place in Europe where you could point and say, 'That's the home of songwriting.' Nashville is a hub of incredible songwriters, incredible performers. I really feel inspired being around everyone."
Ed's very talented and I'm sure he's sincere, but we hear this kind of thing all the time. Somebody from another genre gets all excited about what we're doing, and then as time goes on, it fades away. I'm thinking that'll happen here too.
