Jordan Davis on Waking up to Two CMA Nominations for “Buy Dirt”

CMA nominations recently came out and it's always fun for a country artist to get nominated. Jordan Davis scored two nominations and he talked about how he found out the news on The Bobby Bones Show today (September 15).

Admittedly, Davis woke up the morning of CMA Nomination day and hoped to be nominated, but he wasn't expecting it. He believed he had a shot at the Song of the Year award with his song "Buy Dirt." His manager texted him that morning asking if he was awake, and told him that nominations were coming in. His manager also felt good about the song so he told Davis to invite his brother over. About the time Davis' manager pulled up in the driveway, his publicist texted him congratulations for his two nominations. "Buy Dirt" was nominated for Song of the Year and Single of the Year at this year's CMAs. Davis hopes to win both, but confessed Song of the Year would be the most special so he could celebrate the win with his brother, who is a co-writer on the song.

Davis' latest single "What My World Spins Around," was co-written with Ryan Hurd. Davis asked if the title was too long and Hurd gave him a quick, simple response of "No." He's really excited about how the fans have been reacting to this one on the road. He said they're singing it like it's going to be a big song. Whenever Davis hits the road, he plays his song "Singles You Up" first.
